Who has suggestions for easy or fast ways to stop the ends of the enamel for soldering?
Alleged amateur racer.
Mostly just play with lots of cars.
Able to maintain slot cars with a single bound.
Faster than a speeding Womp.
More powerful than a 36D.

If it's stressed, sandpaper is the safest.
If non-stressed, a notched X-Acto blade is the quickest.

If it's stressed, sandpaper is the safest.
If non-stressed, a notched X-Acto blade is the quickest.
Always drag with the blade the backwards from the direction of scrapping. Never move (cut) with the blade forward like you were whittling a branch.

Thanks for clarifying that.
My post wasn't very detailed.
Yes, you scrape away with the top of the blade angled away.
And I just use the notch.
The fact that the notch is in an X-acto blade is coincidental.
There is no "cutting" involved.
Just scraping using the surface not seen.

I stripped these after I coiled, but while still on the jig.
Pics of the coils made, then installed.
Alleged amateur racer.
Mostly just play with lots of cars.
Able to maintain slot cars with a single bound.
Faster than a speeding Womp.
More powerful than a 36D.

Replaced the simple wire on a controller choke with the coils to get inductance.nsame length and gauge wire, but solid instead of stranded and a LOT neater.
Alleged amateur racer.

Interesting
I never had luck using magnet wire.
Caught one on fire running an open car.
Nice to see one of my controllers I built still being used.
