A sad part of moving is packing up prized possessions. Deciding which to keep, which to toss.
This is one I definitely will keep. It is a pencil on cardstock portrait of Jack Brabham, done by James Hill, and signed by Jack. I acquired it at one of John Weinberger's birthday parties, which he would throw at his dealership, Continental Motors. All of his vintage racing friends would get an invite, along with some pro racing luminaries. Jim was there, and sat down with Jack to sketch out some scenes from Jack's life. Jack didn't like the portrait, so Jim handed it to me. I asked Jack to sign it, which he did.
Seeing this sketch brought some sad memories, as it represented the loss of two people I respected, Jack Brabham and John Weinberger. It's been a little while since Jack left us, and John passed two years ago.
Here's a little biography of Jack;
