I recently acquired numerous antique slots when a friend of a friend passed away. Cheater suggested that I post some photos for you guys to gaze upon, just in case there's something unusual in the batch. I hope you enjoy.

Jim,
You're a very lucky guy!!!

Jim, I'd be interested in the tube of Testor's glue shown in picture #3. How much?
I am not a doctor, but I played one as a child with the girl next door.

Mike, have you tried any of the "plastic welder" cements?

By the emogee Mike used, I would wager $3-$5 he was making a sarcastic comment related to glue inhalation.

Jim, clean these up and display them at home or work. Dr. Bob, Richard, and Don W. would enjoy seeing them. You could race Dr. Bob and Richard.

Some of those chassis look quite unusual, such as the ones on the sidewinder stock cars. Even the inlines aren't ringing a bell here. Some of you could probably chime in with the brands.

I'm pretty sure the 26D sidewinders are Tamiya.

I've enjoyed looking over these beauties. At Dan's advice, I might try to polish-up a few and see if they'll stay on the track (or run, for that matter). Unfortunately, a couple of them have worn out, partially melted/warped tires. If I can find replacements at a reasonable price, I might try to update them. Since everything has been untouched for decades, I'm almost afraid to replace anything on them.
Regardless, they're great-looking old treasures. I was fortunate that someone thought of me.

Nothing unusual for us in Australia where most of our cars came from Japan, but pretty rare for the rest of the world.
It's a pretty fabulous collection of the best of the Japanese stuff, with Tamiya stockers, a Hasegawa stocker, Midori Alfa Canguro and the scarest of them all, the Nichimo Manta Ray. Even the Tamiya sports cars and D50 are quite sought after. The chrome car is a Doyusha.
The least desirable, but for most people, hardest to identify, is the vac-bodied Climax Chaparral. Even over here where many of these were sold, there aren't many people who have all of these in their collection.
The Tamiya stockers are probably the most valuable, although the Hasegawa stocker is a lot harder to find. A repro body kit is available for the Tamiya King Cobra so you can replace the broken rear wing. The misfit in amongst that Japanese stuff is the Cox brass chassis under the Vette body.

Excellent background information. Thank you!
I apologize to anyone who had the mistaken impression that I was posting them for sale. Honestly, I know nothing about 1/24 scale of that era, as I was into HO at the time. In fact, I was unaware that 24 scale even existed back in the 60s. Growing up in Memphis, I knew of no commercial tracks, although I hear there was one in the Cherokee area of Lamar Avenue at one time -- maybe in the old bowling alley.
Anyway, it's fascinating to learn about them. They're beautiful old chassis. I'm putting some of the motors to a power supply next.
