Six slot heads showed up at STR to race their Sports Car and Trans-Am rides
- In the Sports Car competition it was Joe, Bob and Ron for first through third respectively
- In Trans-Am it was Bob, Joe and Mark for first through third respectively
Editor’s Notes:
- The race director neglected to take a screen shot of the fast lap times for either race, so these were estimated
- Rich, Scott and Mike were absent due to other commitments
Competitors selected some unusual rides for the Sports Car race. Bob and Mark selected “Clubman” cars. The narrower track of the “Clubman” rides versus any of the typical Sports Cars put Bob and Mark at a disadvantage to others. Lowell selected a beautiful, yellow, True Scale Ferrari F50. True Scale cars are not quite as quick as their OSCAR counterparts on the very tight Spare Time circuit. Nick entered a vintage Mercedes.
Joe cruised to a win with 87.3 laps followed by Bob with 85.4 laps. Third place was hotly contested with both Ron and Mark finishing with the same number of laps and sections. Ron took third by a matter of feet.
More traditional rides were selected for the Trans-Am contest. The only outlier was Lowell who selected a True Scale rather than an OSCAR ride putting him at a disadvantage to others.
Bob and Joe battled it out for the win and it was a very close contest to be sure. Both finished the same number of laps and sections. In the end, Bob won by a few feet with Joe second.
Meanwhile Mark and Ron battled it out for third. In the end, Mark was third with 88.5 laps (a personal best) and Ron was fourth with 86.5 laps
