Why don't controllers have fuses to prevent damage from accidently hooking up the positive to negative and negative to positive? I did this to a friend's Difalco controller. He his gonna send it back to Difalco to be repaired, I hope.

They make a wire holder for the connector end of the controller that would help. The repair will more than likely be inexpensive.

I saved quite a few controllers from blowing, by adding this to my tracks.
A fusable link on the brake line, using a couple of alligator clips with stranding from stripped lead wire.
I can control how easy it blows by the amount of wire bundles I use.
I think it does matter on how exactly the controller is hooked up wrong on whether it will blow, but it has blown hundreds of times over the years.
