Wow, nearly all regulars returned to Electron for the second race of the Fall Season. Seven rabid racers flocked to Electron Raceway on 10/2/23 to race True Scale NASCAR and GT1. The track was a bit slick and as a result, lap counts were down. Nonetheless, racing was close and competitive.
- In True Scale NASCAR, it was Bob, Rich and Ron for first through third respectively
- In GT1 it was Rich, Bob and Ron for first through third respectively
Bob and Rich battled for the top step of the podium. Bob managed to edge out Rich by a few sections in the first heat and inched ahead in heats two through four to finish first with 89.0 laps. Rich ended up second nearly a lap behind.
Third place was up for grabs with Ron, Joe and Scott vying for the prize. In the end, only about a lap separated all three. Consistency was the key element with Ron finishing third with 85.3 laps (93.99% consistency), Joe fourth and Scott fifth.
In practice, Joe’s Enzo had “chattering” problems. After some time, it was concluded that the chassis movement was just not there and that disassembly was required to truly diagnose and fix the problem. Instead of running a poor handling GT1, Joe chose to run his Ferrari 458 (a True Scale Sports Car). GT1s are a bit wider and more powerful than True Scale Sports cars. As a result, Joe was at a bit of a disadvantage to others. Even so, Joe was able to challenge for a podium spot.
Bob and Rich were in a battle for the top step of the podium. Bob was involved in an incident in the first heat while Rich managed to skate by. The incident cost Bob nearly a lap. The margin remained nearly constant for the balance of the race; however, Bob closed the gap in the final heat but fell a bit short. In the end, Rich won with 91.8 laps with Bob second, a bit more than a half lap behind.
Ron, Lowell and Joe fought for the bottom step of the podium. Although fast lap times were very close, Ron ran a more consistent race than the others, capturing the coveted third spot with 88.2 laps. Lowell was fourth about a half lap behind Ron.
