Palouse Slots held there 7th retro race of the spring / summer series Saturday September 30th. We had 9 racers on the roster and two of our race members were celebrating Birthdays. Happy Birthday Larry Flyn and Ken Bryan. Ken was absent this race. The Palouse weather was perfect for a race, a littler chilly in ther morning but by race time the shop was just right. Our last race of the series will be October 28th if weather permits.
We started out with Stock car on the blue track with John Wimett from Race Masters/Pasco holding off Tom Sunday and Robert Clemints for first place with 111 laps. Tom Sunday also Race Masters/Pasco took 2nd with 110 laps by a few feet putting Robert Clements of Moscow in 3rd who also had 110 laps. Spokane's Tom Brown rounding out the podium in 4th place with 104 laps.
Next class up F-1 on the Red track.
Tom Sunday of Race Masters / Pasco set the bar early for 1st place with 143 laps. Leroy Sanders from Palouse and track owner pushed hard to take first but fell short with 142 laps to take 2nd place. Spokane's Paul Dwyer took third with 133 laps and John Wimett of Race Masters / Pasco in 4th with 127.
We broke for lunch with a menu of Sausage dogs with all the condiments, Macaroni salad , pork and beans, chips. For dessert we had cake and ice cream for the birthday boys.
Next class is Can-Am on the blue track.
Lunch agreed with John Wimett from Race Masters / Pasco as he put himself back on top of the podium in 1st place with 112 laps followed by Robert Clements from Moscow in 2nd place with 108 laps. Spokane's Tom Brown took 3rd with 106 with another Spokane racer Paul Dwyer in 4th with 105 laps.
Last class of the day Coupe class on the red track.
Robert Clements from Moscow finally found his groove and took first place with 148 laps followed by Race Masters / Pasco Tom Sunday with 145 laps. John Wimett from Race Masters / Pasco in 3rd with 140 laps and Spokane's Paul Dwyer with 138. All race results below.
