Are you good with the lengths of the heats in your races?

2 min 8 lane

3 min 8 lane

etc.

Do you like longer heats?

Are you good with the number of track calls for other than:

Braid up, loose

Car off in the un-marshaled bank

Car under the bridge

Do you want less track calls?

The Florida Flexi series runs 2 minute heats, the Florida Retro Series runs 3 minute heats. I prefer the 3 minute heats.

If theres enough marshals i prefer less track calls. I believe cars under the bridge should be a track call, if im marshaling the bridge and the cars not in hands reach im calling track. High bank track call, if the braid is up im yelling track.

My opinion

For normal Flexi and Retro I like 3 minutes. Beginner/sportsman Flexi and Womp, I like 2 minutes. We do special Flexi races 4-5 times a year and do 5 minute heats with 3 minute lane changes. They have become very popular with the racers.

I used to despise track calls as  a racer. but as a track owner I have become more open. The usual straights, bank and sometimes bridge are the usual stoppage. Our regular program is on the same page with what they expect and we all seem to be ok with when we track call. The track call is not the issue as much as the communication and joking around that typically occurs during the stoppage which makes it 4 times longer. The opposite side of that is that it is what makes even a bad day fun.

I agree with Brandon But two minutes is fine for weekly races. The longer heats then make the bigger races see like a bigger deal.

At our weekly races we usually never had enough racers for marshaling, so we switched to a 3 minute crash and burn format. Ultimately makes a better racer.

3 minute heats should be universal; whither it's weekly or monthly. anything less is a waste of time. track calls are a necessity - wrecking cars is no fun. however it should only be called when it's really needed.
