Palouse Slots finished out their retro series on Saturday October 28th. We had 10 racers on the roster but 2 fell ill. The 8 racers who showed up were fired up and ready to race. Tom Sunday was feeling confident and said he was going to sweep all 4 races. With that being said here are the race results.
First class up was Stock car on the red track.
Tom Sunday from Race Masters/ Pasco started out just as promised and set the pace for first place with 138 laps. Robert Clements from Moscow came in second with 136 laps followed by John Wimett from Race Masters / Pasco in third with 135. Paul Dwyer from Spokane came in fourth with 121 laps.
Next class was F-1 on Blue Track.
Track owner Leroy Sanders from Palouse ended Tom Sundays hope of a clean sweep by taking first place with 117 laps. Robert Clements from Moscow once again came in second with 115 laps. Tom Sunday of Race Masters / Pasco came in third with 112 with John Wimett also from Race Masters Pasco in fourth with 110 laps.
We broke for a special lunch of Ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans & bacon, rolls, green salad and apple pie and ice cream for dessert. We also observed Robert Clements of Moscow’s birthday.
Next class up Can-Am on the red track.
Tom Sunday of Race Masters/Pasco found his groove again to take first place with 144 laps followed by track owner Leroy Sanders of Palouse in second with 141 laps. Robert Clements of Moscow came in third with 136 laps and John Wimett in fourth place with 135 laps.
The last class of the day is the coupe on the blue track.
Paul Dwyer of Spokane battled with Race Masters Tom Sunday to take first place by a matter of feet with 117 laps and Tom Sunday in second also with 117 laps. Robert Clements from Moscow came in third with 116 laps. John Wimett had controller issues and was using a loner controller and managed to take fourth place with 113 laps.
Palouse Slots would like to thank everyone who participated in our Retro series. The racers, the turn marshals, lunch prep group( my wife Cheryl Sanders) and visitors. We will start again in March of 2024 and hope to see all the regular faces and a bunch of new ones.
