I built this BRE Datsun 510 years ago.  A Revell model kit supplied the body.  The model kit captures the look of the real car.  I saw the real car being prepped for the Monterey Historics at a shop in Monterey.  The car is very original down to the hand-lettered graphics.  A fresh Rebello-built engine was installed.  The car is very low.  The front crossmember barely clears the ground.  John Morton drove the car in the race.

I cut up a Parma FCR chassis and added front suspension and a shaker pan to the chassis for the Datsun.  The front suspension allows for up and down wheel movement, so the car does not tilt on the front tires when cornering.  The shaker pan adds weight down low and body movement.  The motor, wheels, and tires are H&R.

The car handles well and is fun to drive.

Good looking car Rodney.

Could you take a pic of the 3D car and this one side by side. I am interested to see the difference. Dimensions would be great too.

How do the 2 Datsun's compare on the track?

Thanks Martin.  Apples and oranges regarding performance.  The BRE car is run with modern sponge tires on commercial tracks.  The BRE car handles great, and the blue car feels vintage.

Here are some pictures I took of the BRE 510 in Monterey.  The car was prepped and ready to race.

Thank's for the comparison Rodney. Only 1/8" narrower on 3D print with no flares.
