Greetings,

I was organizing my workshop and found a brushless motor I had purchased last year.

The motor was for the Mini-Z RC cars and comes with a 2mm output shaft.

As I was putting away my motor brackets I noticed the Bmotor (brushless motor) had mounting holes around the circumference of the shaft side.

So I thought "let's see if this will mount on this bracket?"

To my surprise, the Bmotor fit on the inline motor brackets made for the FK size motors.

I want to build an lnline drive BMotor car - which is why I got excited about this!

Just wanting to share a few pictures.

Thanks for looking.

Ernie

Great discovery, Ernie! While I think they are for 1/32 cars, those are awesome motor brackets, too. In this case, they look like they were made for each other. Will this be going into one of you PC board chassis?

Hi Larry!

Good to hear from you.

Mini-Z cars are stated to be 1/28 scale which came up when I was searching for 1/24 brushless motors.

Yes, I plan on fabricating a phenolic/composite chassis for the motor, once I finally get my new plastic track to my liking.

Thanks for asking Larry - Happy Holidays!

As I was continuing to tidy up the workshop this morning, I came across my initial aluminum prototype motor bracket for the Bmotor.

This is made from 6063-T5 square tubing purchased from your local home improvement store; Home Depot, Lowes, etc..

I found a supplier for 6061-T6 square tubing to the specs I prefer and will be fabricating a V2 bracket from that.

But that won't happen until I finish up my plastic track.

Here are some pics.

Thanks for looking.

Do you have a driver board for it?

R-Geo has a new 2 degree motor bracket for brushless motors. Time to start building those brushless retro cars.  :good:

Hi Eddie,

The ESC is yet to be acquired.

I'll get to that at the beginning of the New Year - 2024!

Thanks.

Ernie, FWIW, most brushless motors racers have been using outrunner style motors.

What does the KV marking on the motor say?

Hi Mike,

FWIW, most brushless motors racers have been using outrunner style motors.

I've noticed that and appreciate the performance they provide from the videos I've seen, but my desire is to build an inline!

Why?!, because it will bring to fruition a slot car I wished I could have owned that mesmerized me back in the 60's.

I recall the advent of the Globe SS-91 round can being used in a few slot cars at the SF Model Car Raceway.

There were a few racers there that recently installed them in their cars and were being tested prior to the upcoming race.

They sounded different to me than the usual 16D motors.

I happened to know a racer using this motor and he showed it to me - it seemed much bigger than the 16D motors and to me, seemed to run much faster, and coincidentally he won that race!

He allowed me to drive the car after his win - which was such a thrill for me being so young.

The long cylindrical body of this brushless motor reminds me of the Globe SS-91, albeit smaller in size.

So, I've decided to build the inline car to allow me to re-experience those fond memories.

I'm cognizant it is not the same, but for me it will compensate and satisfy my desire to have something similar in aesthetic design.

The motor pictured is labeled 7500KV.

Thanks, Mike.

I thought it might have said 1,500 KV, which would of been slow.

What you have will be 90,000 RPM at 12V.

FWIW, you can use an outrunner as an inline.

Ernie the Outrunners come in smaller sizes to fit in tight spaces.

There is a setup for your application in the brushless world.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Tom,

At a quick glance, one may not notice there is a motor in the chassis, being so minute!  LOL

Thanks Tom!

Yes, I'm cognizant of that but as I mentioned I want that "look similar to the SS-91 motor!"

Thank you.

Yes , I realize it has more of that SS91 look.

90K might be a bit spicy if you are looking to run the car for fun.

Hi Mike,

90K would be "explosive" to say the least!  LOL

When I decide to "fun run" the car around the track, I will definitely drop the voltage to 6 volts or less.

When completed, it will most likely be on my display shelf, only to be tracked now and then.

Thanks Mike - Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Thank you, Bill Breck, for posting my new BL 1" bracket.

But we have been racing Retro since what 2006-7? So there are probably 100s, if not 1000s, of cars just laying around, collecting dust. I have also brought out a "drill fixture" to allow you to drill holes for a BL motor. You can screw it on to your present bracket and then 2 or 4 holes so bolt your BL motor to any (almost) bracket. Available now to tracks to modify old brackets at full discount. ERI will have them soon...

Thanks for looking!

Hey Ernie:

Why not just purchase a Globe SS-91 and install that and experience the real thing? They're available on eBay from time to time and probably at about the same price as a brushless set-up.

I had been looking for quite some time but have given up since, so I decided to go with the brushless "long can" motor.

Though it isn't the same, I appreciate the smaller design of the brushless motor.

Thanks for the suggestion just the same, Jay!

Belated Happy New Year to you and family!
