Impractical? Check them after the race, hows that for practical? One off tool, yes. But everyone has an index finger and two eyes. Push on the roof, there certainly is a huge difference between a .015 body and one thinner. And who are we kidding, we all can see cars with concave roofs with our own eyes. My guess is, just knowing the body can and will be checked accurately will stop 99% of this nonsense. And it can be used for every class if need be. If you write a rule, and specify a thickness, which is carried out three decimal places, then common sense is you need a gauge to check it. The other problem is molding bodies from different materials, but lets start with the thickness check first. Bottom line, any racer should be able to buy and compete with the same (Off the wall of the raceway lol) body the winner uses.
