Stock Cars on the Figure 8 – 1/2/24

 

The MVH Tuesday Night Retro Series kicked off 2024 with eleven racers running Stock Cars on the Figure 8. Racing was on the middle six lanes, with four marshals and one man at the computer

    

Stock Cars in Tech:

 

John Weaver was setting the early pace while Bob “Woody” Hazelwood was the only other car close to keeping up with him. Maxwell Whitlock, Dave Panich and Peter Lentros were in a close race for the bottom step of the podium. Rolly Lapierre Jr. and Paul Ryer were in a tight mid-pack race. Meanwhile, the really close racing was towards the rear of the pack as Rob Hayes, Richard Payne, Joe Yates and Bobby Blanchette were battling it out for the final four finishing positions.

 

When time ran out, Weaver took the win by ten laps over Woody. Max and Dave finished on the same lap with Dave claiming third by just seven track sections. Peter finished pretty much by himself, seven laps behind Max and fourteen laps up on Rolly in sixth place. Paul was in striking distance of Rolly but ended up three laps down. Five laps off Paul’s pace Rob claimed eighth place, one lap ahead of Richard, who was one lap ahead of Joe. Bobby closed out the field, just two track sections out of tenth place.

 

Race winner John Weaver posted the fastest lap of the evening with a 3.179 time on the purple lane. Woody’s 3.234 on white was good enough for second fastest time on the night.

        NERR Race No. 4 is this upcoming Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at Modelville Hobby in Ashland, MA.

        Racing will include Stock Cars on the Figure 8 and F-1 on the King.
