I'm looking to get a Carsteen controller... can anyone who uses one give me some thoughts... positive or negative?
Also if anyone has one they want to part with... working properly, of course, I would be interested.
Thanks.

You can borrow mine next time I'm down there, I run a CS-4.
It has a voltage choke to drop the top speed of the car and a current choke to limit the acceleration. Current choke is very helpful to prevent deslotting. I use it or the voltage choke to help prevent breakout times in breakout races along with the current choke. The two combined can take a 4.5s car to a 6.5 second car. The sensitivity and brake are pretty standard feeling to me. The throttle curve doesn't require resistor packs. It has 4 dip switches, first one cranks the curve slope up to be even more aggressive. The other 3 you can have 1, 2, or 3 up to soften the throttle curve. The controller runs ice cold and has reverse polarity protection. There are no fuses to replace, the fuses self reset.
The cable between the controller and box are a little stiff. I believe it is a 6 conductor (can't remember) wire going between them. I also 3d printed switch extensions to make them easier to reach. The knobs turn easily but don't have any detent positions.
