Hello everyone,
My name is Ron Deedy. I'm one of the founders of the Southwick Civic Fund. I'll give some background on that. We started doing a Thanksgiving for all about 12 years ago, and we have always helped with fundraising for our town fireworks. After a couple years, we made it an official non-profit organization and a special one at that. No one on the board can receive a paycheck from the non-profit. No one is full-time or part-time. We are all volunteers and local business owners in town. Every dollar that gets donated is used in the fashion it was donated for.
Over the past few years we have added more functions like an Operation Santa, where we organize and distribute donated toys to family's in Southwick, Granville, and Tolland, MA. We also organize a farm parade, a Christmas tree lighting, and two craft fairs every year. This last year we acquired an old church in town and with donations and some state grants built a new 30-60 ft building in for months for our friends the community food pantry to move into.
Recently I have acquired an Ogilvie Hillclimb from Modelville Hobby and were in the process of a mild restoration and assembly. I'm reaching out for folks with knowledge of repairing these types of tracks. I have found some other threads on here with some very helpful information. One in particular is the Pioneer Valley Slot Car Club.
The motivation behind this track with our non-profit is during the winter seasons were thinking of doing a couple Saturdays a month throughout the winter for families to come race and have fun for a small donation. The idea is it gets kids and parents to put their phones down and do something together. Also I have seven nieces and nephews who love to play with my small SCX track and realized they have never seen a big track before.
So I started looking around and found this blog and Richard from Modelville saying he has a track he is willing to part with. A few months later... boom... here we are. I'll attach some photos of our progress from last night.

I think Richard mentioned me to you. Been in the hobby since 1966. I can help you some. My balance problems limit me on what I can lift. I'm about five minutes from where the track is.

That doesnt look too bad. I thought there was some water damage? Anywhere you see a high spot under a straight, loosen the leg and let it settle. You can also pull the deadman in to the lower straight a bit to get all the banking on the right hand side of the track up to snuff. Just give it a gentle push and see what happens. Don't over do it , if a little push doesnt do anything then stop because it is where it needs to be.

This is the sort of civic project I could get excited about. Unfortunately, I am not in your area, but I do wish you and your project the very best.

Good luck! This is good for all involved and the hobby, I'm sure of the kids and parents who use it more then a few will go on to become slot racers.
I take it that's the basement of the old church you mentioned. One thing you may want to consider would be to hang a plastic sheet or tarp on the rafters above it (or sheetrock or plywood if you want to spend more money) otherwise you will get a lot of dust coming down when people walk on the floor above (or even when they don't walk on the floor) also. If it's going to sit for any length of time, get a few large tarps to cover it with when not in use.
One way to raise money for your organization might be to hold races for the slot racers in your area maybe every 2 months or so.

It's been awhile,,,,, quick update on the track, Henry from the old chicopee track visited and is lending us his lane striper, 90 percent of the braiding is done. i resurfaced some areas that needed attention and repaired the green lane on the doughnut the ldf was spitting.so i routed it out and tom ray helped me install a sandwhich style plate and it worked out, filled it back in with bondo and she's so smooth you can barely tell. ill try to take some pictures tonight i have been posting some photos on my facebook and snapchat. tonight im hoping to finish the braid and start lane wiring Saturday, i went around and found all of the old noted underneath for the taps along the track.
some photos of the doughnut done and the repairs made to it.

Ronald,
Nice job refurbing your track.
If you are referring to spray glue, I use 1 bottle of Koford M320 (Medium) per 12 ounces of VMP naptha.
I'm a mod and corrected the orientation of your pics in your last post.
Usually what works(it always does for me on my cheap Samsung Android phone) is to always do a tiny crop so the phone knows for sure what you intended the pic to look like.
