I saw on the news a report on the airdrop of food and medical supplies over the Gaza strip. A great humanitarian gesture for sure. But then I realized that some of the food items were in the form of MREs. (Meals Ready to Eat) Now, opinions on MREs vary. I had a chance to try some once. The ones with pasta were pretty good. Those with soup or chocolate, not so much. So I began to wonder. Did these airdrops relate more to the Berlin Airlift at the end of World War II, or to Operation Rolling Thunder during Viet Nam?
