I just completed the restoration of these two MESAC Indy cars. Victor thinks they were raced around 1968. He supplied the parts for these two

Thanks, Victor. I really like these two cars.

Don Sloan raced the yellow and orange car number 10 Indy Eagle. Beautiful car. The car drives like most multi-rod chassis cars of this period. You have to drive it carefully around a tight road course. The motor has good power. The driver figure is original to the car.

The simple multi-rod chassis was cleaned up. The Mabuchi-based motor has Arco magnets and a rewound armature. Note the suspension detail.

The body was cleaned, and the detail line tape was replaced. The body was then clear-coated.

Roger Moon's Porsche-Porsche Indy car. The rear tires are medium compound MESAC black tires. Set-screw Russkit wheels are used. I just got this one back together, and it is ready for testing. Body clips are used. The missing roll bar was replaced. The driver figure is original to the car.

Roger must have liked to drive this one. Lots of grease and dirt was cleaned off the chassis. The drop arm allows the guide to float up and down, so the front tires are not upset. The lead keeps the guide flag in the slot. Roger put lots of work into making this chassis. He used basically one piece of brass for the main chassis.

Twin Russkit motors with balanced armatures are used. The gears are twin sets of 7-tooth pinions and 25-tooth Versitec crown gears. This picture was taken with mockup wheels/tires.

I love that Porsche-Porsche Rod, a very clever design. Let us know how it goes when you get to testing...

With same gear ratios front and rear, are the tires the same size, or smaller in the front?

Totally sweet, Rodney.   :D  :clapping:

Where do you get that super-thin black detail tape?

Don, the tires are the same diameter front and rear.

Paul, I bought the ABC Hobby tape at a local hobby shop.  Ebay has a few listings for the tape also. Brushing a coat of Pledge Floor Care Finish helps the tape to stay in place over time.  They make .3mm also.

The two Indy cars are very fast and turn about the same lap times.  Both are fun to drive.  Installing soft rear tires on the orange car improved the handling and drivability.

The 4WD car really jumps out of the turns.  When pushed, the tail end drifts out slightly.
