This Wednesday saw it all at Chicagoland Raceway for the weekly fish fry.  Full fields and riotous (!) racing on the track.  Even retro star Chuck Gambo ran with the wingers.  His assessment, “forty good years of slot car racing all down the drain in one short race”.

Patrick Reilly served youth on a platter to the top GTP field entrants this week!  Meanwhile, Bernard Powell has not been beaten in Group F wing cars in some time now.  New single lap record on the Swiss King of 3.069!!

If you’re bored to tears.  If you need a change of scenery.  If you’re crazyfast.  Or you’re just hungry.  You’re in the right city and have we gotta race for you.  Come join us next Wednesday.  The rewards will be rich.

A very good night of racing, a good group of people, had a lot of fun I need to figure out how to do better in GTP but a very enjoyable and competitive race with a group of competitive racers, a very good time had by all!

Oh, no! Chuck! I'm so disappointed. How could you stoop so low? Wing cars? You may loose you're spot in line to get into scale racing heaven.  :diablo:

Anyway, a great turnout.

And by the way, Mark, you need to get some pictures of our old friend and former Cook County Commissioner, Jerry Butler. Front man for the Impressions. And hey, about forty years ago, Cheap Trick was sort of the house band at one of my frequent hangouts. A place called B'ginnings.

I rarely chime back in after posting the report each week, but I must.  The Chicago-centric music scene is as part of my life as slot car racing.  I saw the Doors, featuring Chicagoan Ray Manzarek, at the Auditorium theater in 1969.  I have seen U2 play at the Aragon ballroom.  The Metro on north Clark Street - The Ramones.  With Mike Swiss many times carousing at Tuts on Belmont, all over forty years ago.  Exit, Club 950, The West End, The Thirsty Whale, and yes. B'Ginnings many times.

Off Broadway direct from my old neighborhood.  Phil 'n The Blanks, Poison Squirrel, Blind Ambition and so many, many more.

Last and certainly not least my awesome cousin and jazz prodigy, Kurt Rosenwinkel.  Ancestral roots right here.

Love it all, keep the memories coming!

Or lost. I loose a lot of things these days, my mind among them. That's why, when we put them down on paper, they are always out there. For ourselves, and the world.

And, Mark. Some of those places were after my time. I started with the Blue Village, the Cellar, Some Other Place, and as clubs closed and new ones opened, went on to frequent, and even play at, Strawberry Fields, Mother's, Aragon, B'ginnings, The Studebaker, Thirsty Whale, Earth Lounge, The Stables, Rock Garden, it goes on. What a time!

Always a possibility. But I will only know for sure as I get closer to the day. In the mean time, keep me up to date with these awesome reports.
