April 1st. A day I consider "my day". There is no other nationally recognized, dedicated day that I can fit into. I'm not black, or Hispanic. Not Jewish. Not Irish. Not Chinese, or Asian. Not Arab, or African, French, Russian or Portuguese. Don't practice the Islamic religion. I suppose I could consider the many Christian holidays, I do consider myself to be Christian. Sort of. There is Mother's day, and women's day. And Father's day. There is even breast feeding day, but I definately don't fit in there. And there is older person's day. Anyone older than me certainly deserves a special day.

I'm a Scot. Many years ago some Scottish organizations petitioned Congress to dedicate a day to the Scots. They wanted April 6th, the day the Scottish declaration of sovrenty from The English was signed. They wanted it called Arbroth Day. But Congress decided that was too specific. They called it Tartan Day. And since the Irish also use some tartans (plaids), it could include them. So there still is no day dedicated solely to the Scots. And what hurts more, is that Tartan Day is not included in the UN's List of Calendar Days. It is still not official. ( You can look on the list. https://www.un.org/e...list-days-weeks )

Anyway, I like April 1st. April Fool's Day. I think I fit in there. I've done a lot of foolish things in my lifetime. And pulled a lot of pranks on others, which made them look foolish. Anybody have any favorite pranks they pulled, or were pulled on them?

Dave. I'm older than you & I don't have a special day either. I'm not even a Scot. but my family grew up with a Scottish family whose family name was Scott. About 12 generations ago I might have been a Norman. Around 1975, the company I worked for, New England Telephone, allowed employees to smoke at their desks. I didn't smoke but the girl whose desk was next to mine did. One night I took one of her extra cigarette packs from her desk & took it home. I carefully opened the pack at the bottom & added 3 or 4 cigarette loads Then carefully closed it up & used a little cement. The next day the pack went back in her desk. When i returned from an out-of-town trip a few days later, I heard one of her cigarettes had blown up in the office & the boss got mad & called Benson & Hedges to complain. That night the girl told her mother what had happened but wasn't believed. Her mother said to give her one of those cigarettes which she did. Her mother's cigarette was a loaded one too & exploded in her kitchen. A couple years later I transferred from MA to NH never admitting what I had done. If I had, I probably would have been fired. In the early 90s I told the girl what I had done during a phone call. She laughed & said it was quite a joke.

That's hilarious, Bill. I'd forgotten about loads, something we did when I was in high school. Haven't tried it since. In these days when smoklng in public is socially unacceptable, (and illegal in most places), I'm surprised that we don't see them played on those who continue to offend.
