I had one more Cox Dan Gurney chassis (missing body mounts) left.  What to build?  I already built a Dan Gurney Ford Galaxie (using an AMT model) with one of the chassis.  This time I decided to build something different.  I always liked the NASCAR convertible racers from the 50's, so I decided to build one using the Cox frame.

I Purchased a used 1956 Ford Sunliner (Fairlane).  I am not sure what brand this styrene body is.  Tabs were added to the Cox chassis for body mounting.

New urethane tires were installed and trued.  Gearing is 10-35.  A Cox driver was installed.

Time for a track test.

Great looking car Rod! I recall Curtis racing later in NASCAR too. Was this '56 a hard top you had to remove the top off or maybe a kit that could be built as a convertible or a hard top? I recall AMT selling a '56 Ford kit but I never had one.

That is just drop dead gorgeous Rodney! I especially love the two toned paint job.

That's a beauty,

It is an AMT body.

Always fascinated by those ragtops as well.

That chassis looks like it was made just for that car.

A perfect combination.

Thanks everyone.  Thanks for identifying the brand of the body.
