Eight long-faced competitors showed up on “Tax Day” to lament theft perpetrated by the Federal and State Governments in the name of Taxes. Even so, the crowd perked up with the whine of electric motors. By the time the races were over, the “Taxman” was forgotten, well almost!
Before the prior race, the track was cleaned and lightly sprayed to accommodate squirrelly legends. Traction was good for the Early Modifieds but a tad slick for the more powerful Super Stock cars.
- In the Early Modified race, it was Bob, Rich, Joe and Mark for first through fourth respectively.
- In the Super Stock class, it was Joe, Ron, Rich and Bob for first through fourth respectively.
The Early Modified class is a recent and very popular addition to the rotation at both Electron Raceway and STR. The class features American made 28-47 coupes or sedans. The tried-and-true “Econo” chassis was selected because of its simplicity, tight specifications and scale look.
Current Contest
Racing was tight with only two laps separating the top four competitors. In the end it was Bob, Rich, Joe and Mark for first through fourth respectively. Results are shown below.
The Super Stock class features full size and mid-size American iron for the model years 58-79. The 70 Chevelle has been a popular body choice, but in the recent past a couple of competitors have discovered the 75 Chevy Laguna. I think the Laguna may be the best body for the class because it is both light and low, but it is pricey.
