I just put this one together. I got the Strombecker Lotus 19 body on eBay. The body was thinned out to clear the rear tires. Tamiya paint was used to repair the worn spots, and it was cleared with floor wax.

Running gear is from the Ben Jones collection. Martin helped identify the chassis as a Gar-Vic brand. Thanks, Martin.  The motor is a Bonner.

This car reminds me of 1/32 slot cars in magazines from the beginning of slot car time. Time for a track test.

Looking forward to this one Rod. I've always been fascinated by the Bonner powered cars, which were among the favorites in the Midwest towards 1962-63 and even afterwards.

I've picked up a couple over the years and even copied one by Bob Braverman in 1/24.

I've even got one with a Strombecker body from the same series as the Lotus...

And another that I used with a Mercedes streamliner GP body.

And the chassis for the Braverman GTO

The 1/32 cars have decent speed for the time; the 1/24 Ferrari is kind of hopeless for now...

That Gar-Vic/Boner combination was a popular one for the club racers around here. I have one, with pin guide and home made braids. (not actually braided) You could make them fit 1/24th cars, too.
