Annnnnnd... if you believe the chemtrails types, Walker Lake, Nevada, is a submarine base... except Lewiston, Idaho, is real...

 

Portland, Oregon isn't exactly on the Pacific coast either...

And Lewiston is not the farthest from an ocean. The International Port of Chicago has that beat. There are two routes to IPC. Down the St. Lawrence Seaway from the northeast, and up the Mississippi from New Orleans to the Illinois river, and across the state to Chicago.

Either way is a long trip. There are a few canals through New York and such, but a trip regardless.

The only canal that ships have to transit on the red route is the Welland Ship Canal, that goes right through my hometown. It allows ships to go from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario without going over Niagara Falls, which would be, you know, problematic.
