We raced at Vero Beach Saturday 6/15, Group F, 12Lite, 12. There was  one main for each class. Things ran smoothly, in at 8AM, out about 5PM. Nice facility, nice track, good people, well run. So since the first race there where there were A B C Group F Mains, A and B 12 Lite and 12 Mains, every one since has dropped off in attendance in about a year. Racers, no judgement, but what is up and why the low attendance?

From what I understand, Wing Cars are dyeing! Most racers cannot relate to the wing cars today, expense to be competitive, speed. The 1/32 classes are very strong and growing (Hard Body RTR Cars). Not bashing, just saying.

Understand, but there were 20-24 different entrants at a local race, So the  numbers are out there for local racing. Not dead here yet!

Wing cars are only dying in the minds of people that want them to die. However, like most other types of slot cars, popularity seems to depend on the area and is cyclic. Vero Beach seems to be a good spot for 1/32 scale cars. Other areas not so much, but it helps that they have a track specifically for the 1/32 scale cars which aren't too compatible with the normal sort of raceway cars due to the different tires.

You can take just about any type of slot car and find it hot one month and not so hot a couple months later. Don't know why, but I've been in this hobby a long time and have seen various cars come and go multiple times.

OK, no commentary from the FL contingent. I know they’re around 20-30 Wing Car types within a 2-3 hour drive of all the different tracks in FL. If you don’t feel comfortable answering direct, PM me.

I don't know for sure but the lack of replies might be partly due to the possibility that many of the 20-30 Wing Car types you're referring to, don't routinely monitor Slotblog.
