Some time ago I acquired a Porsche 911 GT1 EVO 1/24 model kit produced by UT models (see image of kit box below). I put off building this kit because at least seven parts make up the body alone (excluding the rear wing). This morning, I finally finished assembly.

The GT1 EVO is narrow enough to run in our Sports Car class (if powered by a Deathstar or ProSlot 16D) but could also be run in our GT1 class (if powered by a Hawk 7 or Falcon 7).

Since I had a spare Sports Car chassis (Scholer), the swap was relatively simple. The wheelbase needed to be shortened and a custom guide tongue was fabricated to take advantage of the long nose of the Porsche. Below is an image of the car in its current form set in front of a Trakmate screen showing its best lap time.

Over the next few days, I will prime and paint. I use Duplicolor primer (see image below) because it almost any paint will adhere to it quite well

I like the Penske team color used on some of his early Can-Am cars and on his Trans-Am Camaros is dubbed Ultramarine Blue, but it is quite hard to find in a spray can. I found it on the Spray Planet website and have used it in the past (see below for image of can and a 69 Camaro I painted)

I will post updates as the project progresses and include images of the chassis as well

Below is a 45 second video of the Porsche completing some hot laps at Electron Raceway and, as promised, a few images of the chassis (attachements)

Thanks Bill - It seems to run quite well.  I will see how it stacks up against the field in our next Sports Car Race (at least a few weeks away).  Our next race is on Monday 6/24 and features Slammers and Early Modified cars.  See below for a couple of images

Love that track and the car looks very smooth.  A little loud?  Do you use clean dry track --or a little spray glue?

She's real fine, my 409!!!
