Mountain Mayhem I - IRRA Retro (rules)
July 13, 2024
Yesterday, Alpine held its 1st Annual Mountain Mayhem Retro Race!
The day's first race was the retro stock car class on the Daytona! We had 23 drivers enter the race, with Michael Kelly taking TQ with an insane 2.750! After 3 hard-fought mains, Michael Kelly took home the win with 473 laps completed! Second place overall went to Nick Farris with 467 laps, earning his spot after winning the B main! Third place overall went to Brian Ambrose, finishing with 465 laps, just 10 to 15 feet in front of Brandon Eden, who also had 465 laps in Fourth place!
The second race of the day was the GT coupe class at Phoenix Speedway! We had 25 racers lined up for that race, with our very own Nate Brannen taking TQ at 4.763 and taking the win with 277 laps completed! Tony Powell took second place with 273 laps completed, and Brandon Eden took third with 270 laps completed!
The day's final race was in the Can-am class, also contested on Phoenix Speedway! With 25 racers lined up, Brandon Eden took TQ, running a blistering 4.717! After the dust settled, Nate Brannen captured the win with 283 laps completed! Second place went to Tony Powell with 275 laps completed, and Brandon Eden grabbed a third-place finish with 273 laps completed!
There was a points system to see who we could crown the overall Mountain Mayhem champion racer! Race winners would be awarded 10 points for their win, with a second-place finish giving a driver 8 points, a third-place finish giving a driver 6 points, fourth place getting 4 points, fifth place getting 2 points, and all other racers getting 1 point. Earning top qualifier for a race would also earn a driver a point!
After giving out all the points to our top 5 racers and extra points for TQ, our overall winner for the 1st Annual Mountain Mayhem Retro Race goes to Nate Brannen! He finished with 22 points earned, with Brandon Eden and Tony Powell finishing with 17 points earned!
Congratulations to Nate on his stellar performance!
There were a total of 73 entries in the three Retro race classes, and in total, the drivers completed 19,615 laps during the three races!
