Coupes on the Aristocrat – 8/13/24

 

This week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro Race had Coupes heading to the American Aristocrat with nine drivers in the field. Racing was in the 4-on/5-off format, running the outside four lanes and then moving to the inside four. One racer ran the computer with four marshals on the corners.

 

Coupes in Tech:

 

It was a night of close racing throughout the field with Bob “Woody” Hazelwood leading the way. By the move to the inside lanes his 140-lap total was good for a three-lap lead over Dave Panich and Cody Pare, who were tied for second with 137 laps each. Dan Savage’s 131 laps put him in fourth place with Rolly Lapierre Jr. in hot pursuit one lap back. Richard Payne, Rob Hayes and John Esposito were all tied for sixth with 129 laps each while Joe Yates closed out the field, four laps behind.

 

The ties were resolved in the second half of the race as Woody maintained his three-lap lead over second place to take the win. Cody didn’t have the best second half as Dave put eight laps between himself and Cody to break the tie and take second place.

 

Dan finished in fourth, just three laps off the podium while Rolly ended up in fifth, seven laps behind Dan. The tie for sixth went Richard’s way as he claimed the position by three laps over Rob. Espo ended up in eighth, two laps behind Rob and six laps ahead of Joe.

 

Dave squeezed past Woody to take fast lap of the night by just .008 seconds with a time of 4.340 vs Woody’s 4.348. Dan was third fastest with a 4.481 on black.

        NOTE: MVH will be closed from August 21^st thru September 9^th for summer vacation.

        The track will reopen on Tuesday, September 10^th at 4:00 pm, just in time for some retro racing action!

 

        NERR's 12th Season is set to open on Saturday, September 21st, at Speedy's Fast Lanes in Solvay, NY.

        Racing will include Stock Cars on the King followed by F-1 on the King. Mark your calendars and plan to attend!
