Stock Cars on the Royal – 8/20/24

 

 

The last race of the MVH Tuesday Night Retro Series before Modelville Hobby closes for summer break was on the American Royal this week. Stock Cars were the order of the night and nine drivers showed up for an evening of close racing on the middle six lanes over nine heats.

 

During practice Cody Pare was having trouble getting his car set up so John Weaver loaned him an extra car, though later in the evening John may have been having second thoughts as Cody gave him a run for his money. In the end, John prevailed by a lap and a few sections as Cody took second. Bob “Woody” Hazelwood and Rob “Pedro Podium” Hayes were in a close race for the bottom step on the podium, eventually finishing on the same lap with Woody taking third by fifteen track sections, though they were both eleven laps behind Cody.

 

Dave Panich was eight laps behind in fifth place but six laps up on Rolly Lapierre Jr. and Joe Yates who also finished on the same lap and the same section, with Rolly taking sixth place by inches. Richard Payne was less than two laps behind them in eighth while John Esposito closed out the field.

 

Even though Weaver took the victory, Cody posted the fastest lap of the night with a 3.903 on white while John was just slightly slower with a 3.929 on green. Rob also broke the four second barrier with a 3.975 on blue.

        MVH will be closed from August 21^st thru September 9^th for summer vacation. Racing will resume on September 10th.

        NERR's 12th Season is set to open on Saturday, September 21st, at Speedy's Fast Lanes in Solvay, NY.

        Racing will include Stock Cars on the King followed by F-1 on the King. Mark your calendars and plan to attend!
