Before you ship a controller to me for repairs please call me! Frantic customer saying his new DD531 high end HO controller was extremely sensitive as soon as you pulled it to the first band. After 10 minutes of frustrating conversation, from my side as I could not figure out how this could happen, I asked him to send me a couple photos. Below is what I received, can you spot his goof? He swore he plugged it in and it did not work from the start. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!

Pappy, ever race on tracks with polarity switches? I ran on a number of Mr, Raceway tracks during the '67-'69 timeframe, They all had polarity switches. You never had to be concerned about having your cars wired correctly.

Bill, I've seen too many people blame other people for hooking up their controller the wrong way. During lane change when no one was looking someone else switched the wires on their controller. To error is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human. A polarity switch is just something else to go wrong, that's why most tracks don't have them. If I wire my car up incorrectly and just throw the switch at the beginning of the heat then the next guy, not knowing that I did that has his car take off the wrong direction and could cause a wreck and put a couple of cars out of the race.

I eventually expect to get an email from the owner saying his braking is intermittent. If racers are going to apply vinyl overlays you need to split it down the seam for maintenance so the handle can be opened and the contacts can be cleaned.

I will be making a maintenance guideline for my controllers and posting it here for racers. It will cover all the short term and occasional items that should be performed to keep their Difalco controller in tip top shape.

At least he has the resistor block installed. I've taken mine out to replace it with a different value, got distracted and forgot to put the replacement in before connecting to the driver's station! Fortunately, I didn't need Jim to 'repair' my controller 'error'.
