This 1/24th scale MESAC BRM P154 slot car uses a MESAC body that is a copy of a Kirby brand BRM Group 7 body.  The body looks to be made of Butyrate plastic.  The body was heated up and "unwarped."  The driver interior is a modern one.

Victor supplied the chassis and most of the parts for the car.  The chassis is a conventional four wire one with plumber and floppy pans.  The car is powered by a Mura C-can motor with an NCC 20 armature and Champion magnets.  Gearing is 7-34 with a Cox spur gear.  Outer tire diameter is 7/8".  The magic MESAC rear tires are run with no tire glue.

The car has a pro car feel to it and is really fast and easy to drive.  Great car.

Nice restoration Rod! In the photos, the main rails look smaller than the half rails. Are they? The chassis appears to be well-built. Did Victor say who might have built it? Plumber on the rails in front of the front axle, my guess would be it was constructed in the late '60s or early '70s. I have a similar looking BRM body that Toy Tech made. I'm quite sure it is PETG.

Bill, everything measures 1/16".  Pretty thick for main rails.  I will ask Victor if he knows any chassis history.

Victor says the chassis is from Ron Von Klein and is not sure if he "made it or had it".

Great save Rodney. :good:

Working on a similar car from MESAC, also number 10 which I think is Don Sloan's also.

Can you tell me the wheelbase on this BRM?

Does the engraving look like it says Indy 76 to you?

Thanks Bill and Martin.  The wheelbase is 3 7/8".  The car is engraved with Indy 76.
