Simple things first.
Check fuse.
Check wiper contact on board all the way through range.
Check side play in trigger.
Check banana clips, wires etc.....
Check wire to power button.

Were you using it for brushless racing? If so there is a chance that it has the older brake circuit that needs updating and can cause issues.
Its not convenient but Steen has great customer service and is always willing to make the controller work properly for the cost of shipping.
I will say that we had one racer with a CS2 and his red lead had become frayed causing serious inconsistencies in the operation of his controller.
Yours being new, I would not suspect this to be the case.
Reach out to him directly and he will walk you through exactly what to look for and possibly how to fix it on your own bench.

It is very hard to get in touch with Steen to get customer service. That is why a lot of guys stay away from Carsteen controllers.

That is not my experience with him, as I usually get replies in less than 24hrs as well as good dialogue for troubleshooting.
I know he gets busy as he is one person doing everything.

If you can't get a hold of Steen let me know, I've been fixing CS-4 and I can't imagine a CS-2 is any harder LOL
