Palouse Slots held their six race of the season this last Saturday, September 28. We had 10 racers on the roster. We had the usual format of alternating tracks, and four classes of retro cars. Stock car, F1, Can-Am, and Coupe. The racing has been tight all season and this Saturday was no different.
First class up is Stock Var on the red track. Robert Clements from Moscow, ID, put himself on the podium in first place with 148 laps. Track owner Leroy Sanders took second place with 142. John Wimmet Race Masters/ Pasco and Tom Sunday also Race Masters/ Pasco fought hard for third place only to tie. John Wimmet edged out Tom Sunday to take third with 136 laps. putting Tom in fourth with 136 laps.
F1 class up next on Ken’s Track. Tom Sunday put the pressure on Robert Clements to take first place with 113 laps putting Robert in second place with 111 laps. Paul Dwyer of Spokane came in third place with 108 laps. John Wimett of Race Masters / Pasco and track owner Leroy Sanders battled it out for the fourth spot only to tie. John Wimett prevailed by a few feet to take fourth with 107 laps.
Lunch break, everyone enjoyed ½ lb hamburgers, ranch beans, mac and potato salad, and chips. For dessert we celebrated Ken Bryan's birthday with chocolate cake and ice cream. Unfortunately, Ken had something come up and couldn’t make it to the race. Happy birthday, Ken, from all the guys.
Can-Am class up next on the red track. Robert Clements of Moscow, ID, regrouped and finished first place with 146 laps. Track owner Leroy Sanders and Tom Sunday Race Masters/ Pasco tied for second. Leroy Sanders got the win by a couple feet with 140, putting Tom Sunday third with 140. John Wimett Race Masters/Pasco came in fourth with139.
Last race of the day, Coupe class. Robert Clements didn’t let up and came out on top taking first place with 118 laps. Paul Dwyer of Spokane and track owner Leroy Sandes raced hard only to tie. Paul Dwyer pulled the win by feet to take second with 115 laps putting Leroy Sanders in third with 115. Tom Brown from Spokane came in third with 113 laps.
