I'd like to know the history of this arm and the category "Competitor" since it showed up.
Thanks.

I believe it is the same as the Pro Slot Contender arm.
There are several other manufacturers with other names similar to "Contender" but they all have the same winding spec. This class of arm has been in use since the mid-nineties, maybe even a bit earlier.
It's a little slower than a "12" arm due to having a longer stack.

Mura called theirs Challenger1 for unbalanced, 2 for balanced. We used to run 4.5" stockcars with these arms in C-cans. They'll also run in
16D setups.

Speed-wise, should be similar to the Super Wasp. It's wound (55t30) on the standard .440" long stack as the 15/20/27 arms, whereas the Super Wasp (60T30) is on the short .350" stack. Should make a bit more torque than the Super Wasp. USRA indicates it's for the JRL and GTP classes.

We had scale classes in which you could run Contenders or Super Wasps.
As Bill said above, Contenders have more torque. We ran them at some tracks and Super Wasps or Hornets at others.
