The IRRA Coupe body rules state that the body behind the rear wheel wells must be above the rear axle center line. However, the IRRA approved Oleg Chaparral 2D has a full scale body behind the rear wheels, as opposed to most bodies which assume that part is being cut away. Please advise.

Can you show us more of your Chaparral 2D body Chris?

This is a fine example of what we ought to have more of, in our big IRRA races. Variety of body style,
and an effort to replicate a real 1:1 racecar, from the days when we were falling in love with motor racing.

There's no rule saying you have to cut out the back of the body.

Rob,
You're up against the 2 main nemesis's of scale racing, the lap timer and lap counter. Lol

Correct. But there is a rule, as stated in my original post, that the body behind the rear wheel wells must be above the center line of the rear axle. I suspect this is to keep racers from creating full length skirts behind the rear wheels, but maybe an IRRA Board member can clarify. As you can see from the posted pictures, the 2D body as mounted does not conform -- the trim line would be probably right through or above the tail lights. But since it is an approved body, that's why I raised the question. The Oleg 2C, also approved, has the same issue if anyone runs it in Can Am .... hmmmmm!

Which is why retro rules are stupid, imho, of course!
