I am at Pinball Expo 2024 this week from Tuesday 14th October to Sunday 20th October. It is the largest Pinball and Amusement Machine show in the world and has been going on for 40 years now.

 

 

I was asked to speak in the main presentation hall on Tuesday to kick off the seminar program. I was given a unique gift to thank me for my participation in Pinball Expo 2024. I will post a photo of what I was given later since I do not have the appropriate photo on this device.

 

I believe that we in the slot car racing industry can learn a lot by visiting the trade shows of other entertainment businesses.

 

Much like Slot Car Racing, Pinball suffered due to the introduction of video games and was all but dead until the rise of home ownership of Pinball games.

If you can attend the show in person, it is being held at the Shaumburg Convention Center next to the Renaissance Hotel Oct 18 - 7:30 AM to Midnight and October 19 - 8:30 AM to 2:00 AM the next day. Sunday the 20th is reserved for tournament finals only.

 

I feel that it would be more worth the time and admission investment for raceway owners in the area of Chicago/Schamburg to attend and see what is going on in an entertainment industry that came back from certain death much the same as slot car racing.

Never been to the Chicago show but I too love PB and have been to shows in both San Francisco and Seattle. Play a couple of rounds of Black Knight for me ... and Twilight Zone, too!

Id really like to see a Superstars of Slot Car Racing card set.

Your best bet for something like that would be The Chicagoland Antique Advertising, Slot Machine & Jukebox Show which takes place twice a year at the Lake County Fairgrounds.
