I just re-assembled this slot car that features a Parma Schkee body.  The body is modeled after a 1977 Schkee DB-1 single-seater Can-Am car.  I painted the body back then.  The interior is a modern AB Slot Cars painted one.

The chassis is a Jan Limpach PACESETTER that was pro-assembled by a So Cal racer.

The car is powered with a Mura C-can motor that has a Steube NCC20 armature, long magnets, and ball bearings.

The car is very fast and easy to drive, and seemed to be built for a Blue King track.  The motor is so smooth.  Good rear traction on a spray glue track.  It has a lot more rear bite than a Limpach 888 chassis.  I also used this chassis on road courses during the early flexy car days.

Another beautiful restoration Rod! If you compare the weights of the Pacesetter & an 888 the Pacesetter weighs more, Even with that added brass weight, the Pacesetter flexes more than the .063 piano wire of the 888. These two factors alone provide more bite. I have one of the early numbered 888s. I could never get that chassis to drive well, even in heavy glue. I'll have to dig out the Schkee body I have. I thought it was a Parma, but I seem to recall a more pointed nose. Maybe it's an O/S or a different Schkee than yours. I never had a Bill Steube arm that didn't have gobs of RPMs. 20s, 22s, or opens.

The Schkee is one of those forgotten race cars. Built to run in the re-envisioned Can-Am series, this time for single seat full bodied cars, which was promoted so teams could use up their usesless F-5000 cars. The Schkee was built on a Lola 332 tub, and used a lot of the Lola Formula car parts. The rules were developed to use the 5 litre F-5000 motors.

The body went through several changes, the final iteration as a spyder. Formula 5000 parts became plentiful and cheap after the series was killed. I used some Lola 332 rear suspension parts on my Genie when I put it back together. (circled in red)

When I was racing 12th scale R/C, I used Schkee bodies. They were the hot commodity back then.
