As promised, we chose to run our JK Indy Cars again for our October race at The Doghouse. As always, the cars were fast and handled nicely -- some more so than others, unfortunately. I got stomped.
First of all, we had a good group of racers, with some conspicuous absences. We hope the other guys can rejoin us for the next race, whatever and whenever it is. The group for this month's race:
(Kneeling in front: Richard Sylvester, the proprietor of The Doghouse. I think he just made a snarky comment, which is why several of us are laughing.)
(From L to R: Dr. Bob Feller, Dr. Marty Cwiakala, Dan Parker, Eric Prevost, Jim Beasley)
We use cars stock out of the box, with the Hawk 7 motor and JK Wide Indy body.
(Front row: yellow = Dr. Bob, red = Eric, green = Richard
Back row: silver = Marty, orange = Dan, purple = Beas)
The sun was shining on Dr. C today, as Marty could not be caught. Using an Indy Car that he borrowed from Richard, Marty passed us like we were standing still. Tons of speed in his little Hawk 7. Marty commented that the car handled so well it was driving itself. Frankly, I don't buy it; Marty drove it really well. Many congrats to our top finisher. (Richard is probably kicking himself for letting Marty borrow the better car!)
Typically, we run three full races and take the best two lap totals, but we limited ourselves and only ran two races this month. Here are the final totals:
Not sure if we'll run in November but, if so, we'll likely run the Indy Cars again. That's yet to be seen as the Holiday Season quickly approaches. Whatever we decide, we'll have fun -- as always -- and enjoy the fellowship that racing provides.
Until the next time...
Beas
