The Northwest Retro Racing League has been in operation, with some brief interludes, since 2008. During that time, our races have taken place on three different tracks. What we now call the blue track started the series in Spokane. It has been updated twice in that interval. For several years, we would alternate between the blue track and the "Montana track," which originated there but has since moved to Spokane and now is in storage somewhere near Coulee City. In 2019, the club venue moved to Palouse Slots and Hobbies, in the town of Palouse, near the college town of Pullman.
Host Leroy Sanders now operates both the blue and red tracks out of the hobby store, and we race (weather permitting) 8 months of the year, from March through October. So this was the last race of our 17th year.
To commemorate the occasion, we took a group photo of the 10 racers who showed up for the event. Regulars Tom Brown and John Wimett were unable to make this race, but most of the rest of the regulars are shown here.
We routinely alternate between the red and blue tracks, running races in order from (generally) slowest to fastest cars: stock cars, formula, Can Am, Coupe. But the blue track unexpectedly had a lap counter issue just before race time, so we ran all the races on the red track today.
