I recently got this video from the city in my e-mail box. As far as I can determine, I'm the only one in this neighborhood that got it. My street has long been known as a raceway for people coming home from work, trying to avoid the Spring Road business area. Ever since I got my first car. They extended the street two blocks farther south, then joined Madison Street into it making a detour around the rush hour traffic. There is a stop sign in front of my house, but only about 3 out of ten cars coming by actually stop there.
When I was a teen, and the street ended with my block, the street was a popular place for kids to perform "burn-outs". I was not innocent of this. It was, shall I say, "convenient", to light 'em up after backing out onto the street. But I have since mellowed out. I don't do much of that anymore. So I wonder. Was I one of a few who were targeted by city officials who are old enough to remember those days? I hope not. Because that wasn't the only type of rowdyism I practiced. I guess you reap what you sow.
