Racers,

Posting what happened to see if anyone has had a similar / identical experience, to maybe learn the root cause and maybe a possible fix that averts the return to manufacturer path.

I have to preface that the car .. wiring, braid, motor, etc. was absolutely fine.

When the EVO-1 issues surfaced mid-race, and I switched controllers - car performance was 100% back on track.

_____________

My first DTM - body Flexi Car Race after 2 years played out like the ABC Wide World of Sports opening when I watched the show in the 70's  ..

The thrill of victory; the agony of defeat.

Hillclimb Circuit

12 volts

Flexi Cars

All 8 lanes operating

Most racers running Raptor Pro motors

My qualification time has me leading off the B-Main with first lane choice; thanks to my trusty EVO-1.

The guys I'm racing against devised their series and rules and have raced flexi cars together for years.

These guys are fast.

I'm the newbie, but the incredible design and functionality of the EVO-1 is exponentially advantageous for mid-pack racers like me.

The group is visibly surprised and even some of the track marshals cheer me on as I rip around the road course with a commanding

all first 4 heats lead. The EVO-1 feels incredibly stable, soft and fast out of the corners. I'm thrilled I just won 4 heats in a row.

Half down. Half to go.

Heat 5. Disaster strikes. Coming out of the 2nd turn after the high bank. Full fast trigger pull. The car lurches to a stop then blasts off.

It does this consecutively in the same spot for the rest of the heat.

The group can tell it's not me per say. After the heat "the pros" there for race day comb over the track where I started stalling under full throttle.

They comb over my car too. No issues.

We start Heat 6. I have been recalibrating my EVO between each heat and do it once again. Of course I'm hoping the last heat was a fluke; that I'll get back to how I was running when I had the lead. Nope. It gets worse. It also begins stuttering in low-speed turns. I limp to the finish.

I race the next 2 classes with a different controller, and they go fine.

After all the racing I re-tested my EVO with DTM, LMP and GTP bodied flexi cars.

Controller performance was spot on then becomes erratic again.

Sorry for the long read. I didn't want to miss any important details for anyone who might give me feedback.

Thank you, racers.

is the trigger wiper making contact ? some guys put a lot of lateral pressure on the trigger lifting it from the board.

From the brief description I just read for this controller, there is no wiper to lift. The trigger position is apparently sensed electronically and becomes an input to a microprocessor that determines throttle response based on many input variables to a computer program. Digital high tech, but also high tech problems when they occur or something fails. If cycling power didn't restore operation, then it will probably need to go back to DenVel or somewhere that services these.
