For some time I have noticed that Jimmy is running an unusual bracing structure on the rear of his Retro cars. Looking at the Fall Brawl photos it is evident on all his cars. However I have not seen a photo of it that shows just how it is structured or gives a clue if there is more going on than meets the eye.

Does anyone care to share some detailed photos and or explanation of just what that is?

These are a little blurry, but hopefully you'll be able to see what you need to see. Two bottom braces and two top braces.

LOL... all I know is JW engineers his cars well. I have some of his cars, and he is fast.   :D

Thanks, Bill.

Now I just have one more question. Is he adding the tabs out the rear to something like a Swiss bracket or is he making brackets with the tabs included?

He makes his own bracket.

Hi Eddie,

My understanding is that Jimmy makes his own parts. The pictures that I posted are from of a chassis that a local racer owns.

My recollection is that the cross brace at the top rear is something that was added to the motor bracket. The brace looks an .047" (guessing) wire with two brass collars on the ends. I'll see if I can borrow the chassis and get a better picture of that detail for you.

Very interesting set up. Obviously the result of a lot of testing and engineering, very well done. The rear sway bars are ingenious, best way to get the most out of your tires/chassis combination. Like the "Grey Ghost" Trans-Am Tempest, a live axle with a "softer" suspension and a lot of compliance.

Best regards,

Thanks, Bill. Any more pictures you can get would be fine, but I think I have enough info to understand what is going on.

Thanks, Danny, for filling in the last of my questions.
