This track wasn't very far from the MGM and the DesiLu studios. (Culver City where those studios were is NOT Hollywood).

 

This is another track in SoCal where the land became more valuable than the track. I'll Google map the track and I forget whether it's the board track or this dirt track but the residential streets maintain the oval pattern of the track (I believe it's the board track).

 

I forgot about Brew 102.... The best beer for getting drunk cheaply... Freshly brewed in downtown LA just off the 101 freeway....

True. It was a time when tacking the name Hollywood on just about anything guaranteed it's popularity.

Irwindale was a great place to go but I haven't been in years as my racing fever has subsided.

 

My profile picture is from a race I attended there and photographed and cropped. You can't see it but there's a car just to the left of the picture and the sparks are bouncing off his bumper. The pit pass was the best seat in the place as you could see who had the best set-up and who could manage their tires best. Sometimes it was very obvious. The pit pass stand was at the entrance to turn one and wrapping partly around the turn .Horsepower wasn't king at Irwindale.
