Formula 1 on the King – 11/26/24
The MVH Tuesday Night Retro Series made their monthly pilgrimage to run F-1 on the Gerding King this week. The field of nine ran all eight lanes in the 4-on/5-off format with one man on the computer and the other four on the corners.
Nine F-1 Cars in Tech:
John Weaver took the early lead with Bob Hazelwood and Rob Hayes his closest competition. By the move to the inside lanes Weaver was leading Bob by six laps, 172 to 166, with Rob another lap back at 165. Dave Panich was running in fourth with 162 laps while Cody Pare trailed by a lap and Rolly Lapierre Jr. was two more laps in arrears at 159. Richard Payne’s 153 lap total put him one lap ahead of John Esposito in eighth while Dan Savage closed out the field, four laps back.
The second half of the race saw things spread out and mix up. Weaver opened his lead to take the win by a twelve-lap margin over Woody while Rob claimed the bottom podium step, trailing by six laps. Cody got past Dave to take fourth by one lap while Rolly stayed in sixth place but had John, who got by Richard, closing in, finishing one lap back.
