I restored/built this Ferrari 612 using parts from the Lester Leong collection.  The body was painted by Keiji back when the body was new.  Lester and his uncle ran the body with various chassis over the years.  The body was also chopped to lower it over the years and was basically held together with tape.  I glued on the side rocker extensions (to restore stock body height), repaired the crash damage, and added the Aguirre air control kit.

The Associated pan and drop arm chassis were found, repaired, and cleaned up.  The motor is a C-can Mura with an open armature and Champion magnets.  The motor sounds great on the analyzer.  Wheels look like Associated.

I have not run this car.  It does have "the look."  The car was built for Eric.  When he saw the completed car, he said he thought Lester ran it with a Group 20 chassis, and he wanted the car that way.  So as requested, the car will be delivered with a Group 20 chassis, and the mounting holes for the open chassis were filled.

During my first Grp. 20 race in 1970, I used the same body but my paint work then wasn't as nice as Keiji's.
I ran it on an American Orange track, but not many exist today. I still have its chassis, setup, arm & the
original blind axle hubs. Someday I may restore it using the 612 body I got in a swap. Your body restoration
here looks nice as does the chassis & motor.

How was Associated and Stuebe connected?

I have wheels and chassis parts labeled both ways.

"Wheels look like Associated"

Got to love those wheels whatever we call em. :good:

What kind of Group 20 chassis is that? I thought all Group 20 chassis' were stamped steel and made/marketed by Champion. Or is my memory getting that bad?!

Martin, Mike Steube in an August 1969 interview in Model Car Science said he was coming out with a line of "pro specialty equipment."  Apparently, he partnered with Associated.

My bad. Apparently my reading comprehension is following my memory right down the drain.
