Does a brushless motor need to be removed to rev check the  motor before a race?

Make some laps and see how it runs. The clock will tell you.

When I was recently checking brushless motor RPMs, at 10 volts I was seeing only about 200 to 300 RPM drop when I had the pinion gear engaged with the spur gear as opposed to no load at all.
