Here is the back story. When I was traveling to races in the Midwest circa the 1980s, I bought a folding table as I was tired of never having a good work/pit location. There were lots of attendees at the big races, like 70 for G27. I shipped it like luggage in its cardboard shipping box. It went everywhere. At the time you could buy one from the regular slot car distributors. And it was expensive.
At the Chicago Nats, Jerry Kulich’s raceway, also known as Csaba’s Nats, there was no room and I set up near the front of the raceway. I did not stay for the warm-up Wednesday night race and left the table set in place. Some of the Camen guys asked if they could use it. Joel was always helpful to the FL guys and I said OK. I show up the next morning and the table was in place, but there was a large stain from oil, glue, and such on one corner. Sigh, not happy.
After I stopped traveling to races, it was in the garage and a favorite of the kids and grandkids to set up and play with. Eventually this was sold off at a garage sale. This was about 40 years ago for the Nats visit.
So, over Christmas, wife, daughter, and grandchild made the rounds of the local junk shops. They sent me this picture with granddaughter sitting as she remembered playing with this table. I thought that was kind of cool and looking closer saw that this was the same table, identified by the stain in the lower left corner. I though this was remarkable that it was still around and that I could identify it.
True story. Good times.
