The 2025 Slot Car season opened with a bang at Electron Raceway on 1/14/25. The track was recently cleaned and sprayed. Some rubber was laid down in the final race of the 2024 season and the traction was just right.
The season opener featured True Scale Sports Cars and Can-Am/Gran Sport rides. Both classes sport H-bracket chassis and Deathstar or ProSlot 16D motors (some competitors did not have True Scale cars for both classes, so I allowed OSCAR brass and wire-based rides to compete as well). Six slot-heads competed in the opening event. Competition was close and fierce, but the important thing is that a good time was had by all.
For those only interested in detailed results and images of the winning cars, cursor down. I have also included links to three videos in the first reply below. The first is a recap showing close-ups of all of the cars, grids and more. The second shows racing action in Heat #7 of the Sports Car race while the third shows racing action in Heat #1 of the Can-Am race. Enjoy!
Editor’s Note: It may take some time to post the links to the videos. If you do not see them, check back later.
Sports Car Race
Lowell’s Ferrari F50 dominated the field finishing first with 93.4 laps, more than three laps ahead of the nearest competitor. Rich and Bob, both driving Porsche GT1 Evos, battled it out for the remaining spots on the podium. In the end, Rich edged out Bob by a single section.
Observations:
- Lowell ran a very consistent race (95.13%) and a personal best lap total for the class at 93.4 (only 1.4 laps short of the class record)
- Ken ran a personal best lap total of 85.4. With a bit more consistency, he could well challenge for a podium spot
Can-Am/Gran Sport Race
Bob, driving his OSCAR based Lotus, dominated the Can-Am contest finishing first about 4 laps ahead of his nearest competitor, Lowell. Rich finished third about two laps behind Lowell but only a lap ahead of a challenging Mark.
