It is reported that Joe (Smokin' Joe) Redmond, an Atlanta area racer and former raceway owner (1994 USRA Nats host), has passed away.

"Say not in grief he is no more but in thankfulness that he was.
My father's bout with cancer came to a peaceful end. If you'd like to pay your respects in Atlanta, below are the service arrangements. We will be having another gathering for family and friends in Halifax, NC, next week.

Sorry to hear this. I've been to his track several times when I lived in Atlanta. He was always very friendly and took time to help everyone. He made me feel like I was a good friend, even though I didn't know him outside of slot car racing.
