Several years ago, I assembled a 1/24 Daytona Prototype and was never really happy with the results. The body was a Resilient Resins Riley and the chassis was a Tifosi. Recently I revisited the project. Below are a few images. A video including close-ups, project details and solo laps at Electron Raceway is shown in the first reply to this post.
It may take a few minutes to post the video, so if it is not shown, check back later

I always thought the Daytona Prototype was an ugly car until I saw the real thing on the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in an SVRA (Sport Vintage Racing Association) event. It was beautiful and ever since then I liked them. That one looks like it runs "great".

It does run pretty well. I will try it out at our next Can-Am/Gran Sport race at Electron or at an upcoming Can-Am race at STR. I will post results

Daytona Protoype actually had several different constructors with somewhat different bodies that changed as they matured and the constructors changed ownership. I bought a set of the JK DP bodies years ago for a project that never happened. They're quite nice bodies, and I suppose one of these days I'll need to get them painted up and build chassis for them.

My Daytona Prototype made its debut at a race at STR on 2/17/25. Testing of this ride had been limited to laps at Electron Raceway. The race, however, was held at STR, a much tighter course. For STR, the car was "over-motored". To compensate, I used a 1 ohm resistor on the white wire. The car was quite manageable. For the next race, I think I will swap out the Hawk 7 for a Cheetah 4. That should improve pick-up (compared to the 7 with a resistor) and terminal speed but not sacrifice handling

BTW (our rules allow Daytona Prototypes to run with the Can-Am cars)
