My Eclipse has been working fine for many years with zero problems.

I've wondered how many more years it will be before it needs new o-rings, etc.

Maybe now is the time - it's starting to blow bubbles into the cup.

I looked online for a "rebuild kit" but don't see one.

Just individual o-rings and parts.

Any advice? Thanks

Pablo

The Iwata website doesn't show any rebuild kits. There aren't any shown in the manual, either. Before I'd buy anything, I'd disassemble the airbrush and check the wear parts, especially the needle. New seals won't seal against a worn needle. I have, in the past, been able to polish the needle if it isn't too badly worn and get the airbrush to hold air again. A little bit of paint leakage isn't really a problem. Here's the pertinent info from the manual. You may need to know the date the airbrush was made to order some of the parts.

You can go to Iwata online, and there is a picture listing of every part they sell for their airbrushes, with the part number and price.

I don't know the Iwata airbrush, but you already know you have an air leak somewhere, Troubleshooting – Iwata Airbrush might help. It suggests that the nozzle may not be firmly seated or might be slightly damaged from scratches. They indicate which sealant to use. There are several other online articles about air in the paint of Iwata airbrushes.

Check out this video on Youtube. It's for a Harder & Steenbeck, but the problem addressed is the same as yours.

Also, check your nozzle tip and make sure it's not damaged or split. I split one of my Eclipse nozzles by being overly aggressive with a nozzle cleaning tool and that caused problems until I replaced it.

First thing I tried worked - tightened the cap (part #3) a little more, end of bubbles.

Thanks for all the tips, it saved me a bunch of time and money.

Amazing how long this thing has gone without any new parts  :D

When taken care of & cleaned properly on a regular basis, you shouldn't need to replace parts. except maybe the needle & its matching nozzle.

I strip and clean it after every single color change, and oil it occasionally.

There are guys who don't, but I'm not one of them.

20+ years and mine is like new.  I always take it apart to clean it and then when I put it back together I run a half a cup of cleaner through it just to make sure.  I don't even use the cap when painting.  The joys of being a one color wonder!   :victory:

Wanted to add - Iwata/Medea's customer service is fantastic - I sent one in to their Portland branch for a "tune-up" years ago - some of the best $$$ I ever spent. Very nice people and inexpensive, too.
